Competition Results

Most of you will be familiar with a tool available on the the web called 'HowDidiDo'.  This piece of software allows you to see, amongst many other things: how you have done in any competition, what is your current handicap, or use as a social networking site, etc.

The Furness Building Society Texas Scramble

On Saturday 4^th September the Furness Building Society sponsored Texas Scramble was held with a total of 36 teams of 4 teeing up.  The weather was once again glorious for golf and reflected in the low scoring.
The Furness Building Society has sponsored this event for 8 years and this year in the absence of the holidaying Managing Director Mr Rob Cairns, the Society  was ably represented by Finance Director Mr Steve Pryer who presented the prize winners with their vouchers.  The Captain would like to thank the FBS for their continued support of this event and long may it continue.

The format this year was minimum of 3 drives each player and the Sunningdale handicap system was adopted.

There were 24 holes in 2 recorded each worth £2.25 per team player, as always all monies paid into individual accounts with club Professional Michael Newton and the two’s winners were Messrs:

The overall result and the champion Furness Building Society team were J Dale, D Cooksey, P McDowell and P Sykes with a gross score of 64 -3 = 61  Congratulations gentlemen and very well played.

The Captain would like to express his thanks to Phil Shakespeare and his green keepers for maintaining the course to such a high class level, the Games committee for organising, auditing, contacting and producing the competition result sheet, namely Neil Boyd, Steve Wall David Barker and David Hogan.
A big hand to the Professional Shop, namely Mike Newton and Chris Lemmon, the bar staff Sarah, Michelle, Marc and Sam and Brenda and Liam for the catering…thank you all for the hard work done in the cause of Barrow Golf Club.

Finally the Captain would like to thank his team Mike Batstone, Wayne Humphries and Pip Keen for the great spirit shown during the competition and their company post golf.
